Who is Andri Ulrich?

I was born in Biel, Switzerland, where I lived for almost ten years of my life. Then my family and I moved to Tenerife, Canary Islands. I completed one year of home schooling and then one year of public school. After about two years we had the chance of moving here to New Mexico, and my sister and I would attend to a small private school where my mom and dad now work. So we arrived here in the fall of '96 and have been here ever since. I am currently finishing my last year of high school before I go on greater things, what those are I do not know yet.

I got involved with robotics in the summer of '98, when a friend's mom had us meet Bruce Kaiper, the leader of the BEAM team. I took several classes with him and I liked it very much and before I knew it, he asked me if I wanted to go to India to participate in the BEAM games as part of the US BEAM Team. I reluctantly agreed and two months later we were on the plane heading west. In India our team did really well in various competitions and our bags were stuffed not only with souvenirs but also trophies. By that time I was really hooked on robotics.

Half a year later two other members of our team and I got together to form a small team that would go to the Western Canadian Robot Games (WCRG). Armed with only a sumo bot, we took on teams from all over Canada and the United States. In the summer of 2000 we would again make the trip to Calgary yet with another sumo robot, only to find immense problems at the start of the competition that hindered us from doing too well.
